Hi I’m Carrie! A full-time missionary to Ethiopia!
As a Biomedical Engineer. I graduated from the University of Southern California, and went to work for one of the largest Heart Surgery Companies in the World. Even though I was making a six-figure salary and was in the top of my field, I felt an immediate call to give it all up and take on the challenge God had shown me through his word. That challenge or better stated “command” was to go into all the world and preach the gospel message to those who have never heard it before.
Jesus called us to go to Judea, Samaria, and the ends of the Earth preaching the Gospel. Well, that’s where I am going –the ends of the Earth.
In Mark 16:15, Jesus told his disciples and friends to “go into all the world, every nation, and to preach the gospel to all creation.” In Matthew 24:14 Jesus said “and this Gospel of the Kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.” John, describes a part of his vision in Revelation 7:9 as seeing “a great multitude that no one could count from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and in front of the lamb.” Right now God’s calling on my life has led me to Ethiopia in the horn of Africa. But truth be told there are unreached people groups all over the world not just Africa so our work must increase to these areas as well.
I believe in “One Chance For Every Person”. Because nearly 2 billion out of the 6.8 billion people on earth still remain unreached. We can very easily become comfortable in our church pews and forget about the lost in our country and many others.
Romans 10:12-15 says: “For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile—the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, for, ‘Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.’ How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? As it is written: ‘How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!’”
They haven’t rejected the message of the Gospel; they just haven’t heard it. My aim is to change that in my generation. After all we are the watchman for our generation according to Ezekiel. Let the watchman warn his people before the end comes.
Why would I ever want to sacrifice the comfortable life of California for the rough terrain of Ethiopia? I go because Jesus said so. It’s the assignment of the church to go and preach the Gospel to every tribe, nation, and tongue. It’s the heartbeat of God that every person would come to know the saving power of Jesus Christ, and that every person should have at least one chance to respond to His Gospel. I go because if I don’t, no one else will. And God is always inviting harvest workers to his fields. The harvest is ready.
