Sweet Suffering
As we consider the sacrifice and the suffering that many American men and women endured to uphold our country’s freedoms it seems only fitting to look to the one who took it upon himself to make the ultimate sacrifice, Jesus Christ. Just yesterday we remembered our service men and women. But everyday we can converse with the Prince of Peace, the Son of God, and thank Him for what He has done. The bible tells us that Jesus is on the right hand of the Father interceding for us! He cares! He is still active in our lives. He wants to be a part of every decision we make!
I’m writing this newsletter from the United States. I came back about 6 or 7 weeks ago. I had discovered a lump in my left breast. And given my mother died from Breast cancer around my age the doctors felt I should return to the states to be checked out. The medical system in Ethiopia could not diagnose properly. Within 3 weeks of returning to the US I found out that I have breast cancer. But the good news is that God is still on the throne & Jesus is still in the healing business! The cancer is at stage 1 according to the doctors & has not spread. No matter what the days ahead might bring The Lord has told me that we do everything together. He has given me peace & constantly encourages me to take one day at a time. Because like we all know each DAY…24 hour period has enough worries of it’s own!
I want my team, my strong prayer & support group to know…..I want YOU to know that I’m fighting this with the Lord leading the way. When I found out they were recommending I return to the states I cried out to God telling him I had no clue what to do or where to go or what doctor to choose. I cried myself to sleep that night. The very next day I met a doctor at this remote Ethiopian Christian Hospital that happened to be from Ventura, CA. When I told her I was from Bakersfield, CA she said “Carrie my best friend & her father are doctors in Bakersfield. Do you want me to see if they will see you?” Ummm…. Yes Please! I landed on Tuesday evening & I had my first doctors appointment the very next morning! Please let this sink in God secured my doctor, God arranged this intricate detail, God is running the show! He cares for us! Give everything to him no matter how small, he’s more capable than we are.
I will try to keep everyone updated as the details unfold. I am asking for prayer for healing so I can get back to Ethiopia!
Blessings,
Carrie
